Bonnie Hochman Rothell

Ms. Hochman Rothell, a partner since 1995, is head of Krooth & Altman LLP’s litigation group. She also specializes in employment and bankruptcy matters. Ms. Hochman Rothell’s clients include banks and institutional lenders, developers, holding companies, government agencies, government contractors, entrepreneurs, commercial enterprises, foreign corporations and individuals. She has an extensive background in commercial law, complex real estate disputes, employment discrimination, sexual harassment, covenants not to compete and other employment-related matters. In the area of bankruptcy and workouts, she has represented lenders, borrowers and buyers.

Ms. Hochman Rothell has first chaired hundreds of litigation matters throughout the United States. In addition to an active litigation practice, Ms. Hochman Rothell has been retained to mediate disputes and has served as an expert witness in employment matters. Ms. Hochman Rothell has been actively involved in numerous pro bono pursuits.

Prior to joining Krooth & Altman, Ms. Hochman Rothell served as a Legal Intern to Judge William Hoeveler, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, and as an associate for four years at the Wall Street law firm of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. She has published articles for legal and trade journals and has spoken publicly on such topics as covenants not to compete, discrimination and harassment, handling personnel matters and environmental law matters.

Ms. Hochman Rothell has developed a unique expertise in litigation matters involving FHA, FNMA, GNMA and Freddie Mac and private lending and mortgage originating and servicing involving breach of contract, construction defect claims, fraud, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duties, lien and the related actions or other common law disputes and statutory or regulatory disputes as well. She frequently acts as co-counsel to other law firms on matters of her expertise. Ms. Hochman Rothell’s experience encompasses environmental matters as well real estate litigation and real estate finance matters. She has been involved in several indoor air pollution disputes as well as a few CERCLA matters. Ms. Hochman Rothell has prosecuted appeals to the United States Supreme Court and is active in attracting alternative dispute resolutions to complex problems.

Ms. Hochman Rothell’s practice involves a broad range of disputes derived from employment relationship issues and complex discrimination matters before the EEOC, and state and local agencies through appeal. These matters have involved representation of employers and employees in race, gender, religion, national origin, age, disability and other discrimination matters. Ms. Hochman Rothell has also handled several high profile sexual harassment and whistle-blowing cases, as well as disputes pertaining to covenants-not-to-compete, unfair trade and contractual matters.
