Mr. Olsen represents employers of all sizes, ranging from international corporations with hundreds of thousands of employees to local businesses with only a few workers. His clients are in a wide range of industries, including telecommunications, computer software and systems development, engineering, banking, mining, oil and gas, city and county government, insurance and hospitality. His practice concentrates primarily on wrongful discharge litigation, employment discrimination litigation, sexual harassment litigation, negligent hiring and supervision, assorted tort and contract litigation, wage and hour law, class action and appeals.

One of Ted’s subspecialties is defending employers in workplace violence cases. Some of his cases involved murders committed by clients’ employees, as well as cases where clients’ employees have blamed their employers for injuries inflicted by third parties.

With the development of disability discrimination law, Ted extended his practice to defend cases under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. He also defends cases regarding other federal, state and local laws and regulations on the accessibility of stores, restaurants, theaters, and other public accommodations to persons in wheelchairs and other disabled persons.

Ted joined Sherman & Howard in 1979. Throughout his career he has spoken at many continuing legal education programs throughout the country about employment law and has authored various articles and other publications about the subject. Currently, he serves as the co-department manager of the Labor & Employment Department.
