Governor Jeb Bush

Governor Jeb Bush is Florida's 43rd governor, elected in 1998 and re-elected in 2002, becoming the first Republican to be re-elected governor in the state's history. Since taking office, his top priority has been creating a world-class educational system through high standards and increased accountability. Another priority has been Tort reform. Gov. Bush and House leaders have agreed that the cap be no lower than $500,000 so victims and their families in the very worst cases can receive up to $2.5 million. Gov. Bush has acknowledged that although there is no guarantee insurance premiums will go down, it will create certainty in the insurance marketplace.

Dr. Segal initially conceived of Medical Justice in 1998, and the first patents were filed in 1999. At the time, he was practicing clinical medicine in Indiana, a state that had successfully controlled medical malpractice premiums by judicious use of medical review panels and caps on total payouts. Between 1994 and 2000, Dr. Segal participated on a number of these panels.
